Corsica:- An island in the Mediterranean Sea, located west of Italy, southeast of France and north of the island of Sardinia. Corsica is 90km from Tuscany & 170km from the Côte d'Azzur,France.

It's separated from Sardinia to the south by the Strait of Bonifacio, 11km (6.8 miles)wide

Corsica is famed as the birthplace of Napoléon Bonaparte. Ajaccio, the island's capital and Napoleon's birthplace. The Genoese took possession of the island in 1347 and governed for 382 years. Corsica was purchased by France from the Republic of Genoa in 1764 and was incorporated into France in 1770.

Tourism plays a big part in the Corsican economy. The island has not had the same level of intensive development as other parts of the Mediterranean and is mainly unspoiled.The food of Corsica can best be defined as a fusion of the French and Italian cuisines, due to its close geographical positions with the two countries.

Alghero:-Alghero combines a mediaeval centre with a vibrant sea front. Colonized by the Catalans in the 14thcentury the city retains many characteristics of its Spanish forefathers -indeed the city became known as ‘little Barcelona’. Paella is almost as common in the restaurants as pizza.

The narrow pedestrians streets of the old town are lined with shops, bars, restaurants. The ancient town walls dominated by the seven defence towers,there are beautiful beaches with clear sea.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria, work started in the 16th but was not completed until the 18th century.St.Francis's church, originally constructed in 1480 and rebuilt in 1598 following a partial collapse in 1593.Palazzo d’Albis, the former Governors Palace where the Emperor Charles V delivered an historic speech in 1541 before embarking on a campaign to Algiers.

La Maddalena Archipelago:- This glorious archipelago,consisting of the islands of La Maddalena, Caprera,Saint Stefano, Santa Maria, Budelli, Razzoli and Spargi has been designated a National Park for the protection of its natural  beauty, flora and fauna.The islands are renowned for their exquisite beaches,especially the ‘Pink Beach’ on the island of Budelli. A pleasant journey by ferry from Palau takes visitors to La Maddalena, which is linked to Caprera by a causeway.
La Maddalena was founded in 1770.Once the preserve of shepherds from neighbouring Corsica it is now the site of a large Italian and American naval NATO base. 

Lord Nelson,spent three months cruising around the islands, having bombarded La Maddalena some ten years earlier. He wanted to ensure the French did not occupy Sardinia, which he considered a useful base for the British Crown. He suggested to London that £500,000 would secure the purchase, keeping the King of Sardinia satisfied, but his plan was dismissed by the queen’s naval advisors.
